The HEFLINE Company was founded by Mark Greenberg and Jim Lee.  Mark and Jim attended the same high school and connected several years after college, and together built a real estate investment and development company.  Mark and Jim share many beliefs such as “a person should do what they say they will do” and “anything worth doing is worth doing right - from start to finish”.  Well, after building out close to 60 properties together and working with countless contractors, it was apparent that not many companies held these same beliefs.  

When it came to alarm companies, there only seemed to be 2 options - the big mass marketed companies that offer “free systems” that really end up costing a couple hundred dollars or more after “activation fees”, and the local custom installers who were much better with service and follow through, but who charged a hefty fee.  When we set out to find for our own investment properties a local service oriented company that would install at prices similar to the mass marketers - there was a void and The HEFLINE Company was born.

Mark has always been interested in security.  He was the victim of 3 home intrusions before the age of 25 starting at age seven when an intruder tried to chisel open the door to his family’s home while his mother called the police and while his father held a large knife that the intruder could plainly see but was not bothered by.  All of this in a middle upper-class suburban community considered by most to be very “safe”.  Later intrusions came while Mark was not home but at the expense of some of his valued and valuable belongings and feeling of safety in his own home.     

So as a result, Mark is all about security, but he is also a business person through and through, and he is obsessed with being the best at everything he does.  Before launching the company, Mark consulted with industry leaders to ensure he would be using only the best equipment, the best system designs, the best installation practices, the best monitoring, and the best customer service.  It is the last component that Mark is most obsessed with - the customer.  Mark says to everyone in the company that “this is a business of serving people, not installing alarms systems”.  

Mark is a formula guy and loves to break down everything into formulas.  He even says there are formulas to being a good father and husband.  He says there are formulas in everything we do.  In this business, he feels the formula is about going above and beyond in everything we do and doing the right thing by the client no matter what. From a business perspective, Jim also shares the same feelings as Mark  but brings very important beliefs and missions to the HEFLINE Company.  Jim is ultra-competitive but also very analytical.  Jim has studied almost every other company, their pricing, their reputation, their strengths and their weaknesses to ensure his company is positioned best.  Jim constantly studies emerging technologies and is always seeking ways to better the company’s procedures so that the customer’s needs are exceeded.

You see, there is no “good enough” in Jim’s or Mark’s vocabulary.  Simply being better or less expensive is not enough.  Simply meeting the customer’s needs is not enough.  If you can do more, than do it and do it without ever having to be asked.  Mark and Jim live and breathe this and they work hard to ensure every member of The HEFLINE Team carries it out.
